Add shadow for TextView, using Java code.

To add shadow on TextView using Java code, call setShadowLayer() method.

package com.example.androidtextview;

import android.os.Bundle;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.widget.TextView;

public class MainActivity extends Activity {

 @Override
 protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
  super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
  setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

  TextView shadowText = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.shadowtext);
  shadowText.setShadowLayer(30, 10, 10, 0xFF303030);

 }

}

<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    android:paddingBottom="@dimen/activity_vertical_margin"
    android:paddingLeft="@dimen/activity_horizontal_margin"
    android:paddingRight="@dimen/activity_horizontal_margin"
    android:paddingTop="@dimen/activity_vertical_margin"
    android:orientation="vertical"
    tools:context=".MainActivity" >

    <TextView
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:text="Hello"
        android:textStyle="bold|italic"
        android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal" />

    <TextView
        android:id="@+id/shadowtext"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:text="http://android-er.blogspot.com/"
        android:textStyle="bold"
        android:textSize="30sp"
        android:textColor="#0000ff" />
